Delta Optical
For over 40 years, Delta Optical has been synonymous with quality workmanship, innovative products and exemplary customer service. It’s rare to see the genuine and lasting relationships they have built with their customers. It is not unusual to see many generations of families who have purchased glasses from Delta since the inception of the stores. The small optical chain provides service in Square One, Fairview Mall and Hillcrest Mall. Now with the addition of a fourth location in Oakville, the buzz about Delta Optical resonates throughout the GTA and beyond. They even ship glasses regularly to discerning customers as far as Europe, South America and the Middle East.

The eyeglasses at Delta Optical are handpicked as they travel around the world meeting with the inner circle of trend forging optical designers. Unlike traditional “brand name” frames, these are artists who strictly design eyewear – crafting their frames using pioneering engineering techniques and the highest quality materials.

Delta Optical is given advanced opportunity to place orders on behalf of fashion-conscious clients who appreciate the craftsmanship and adore the unique styles exclusive to Delta. These boutique styles can start at a reasonable $280 for both sunglasses and prescription frames. The highest end lines will have a price tag that parallel the extraordinary materials incorporated; buffalo horn, 22kt gold, platinum, exotic woods and incredibly light-weight carbon fiber.

The Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund (OCAF)
The Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund (OCAF) was established in 1999. It has three aims: (1) to increase cultural tourism by providing investments to assist Ontario organizations to develop, promote and present one- off or first time events, or a significant expansion of existing activity, which are designed to attract new tourists and visitors to cultural events; (2) increase the earned revenue capability of the applicant organization; and (3) support events that foster economic growth and contribute to job creation.

OCAF achieves this by providing up front working capital directed towards the applicant’s marketing and promotional costs, with the investment taking the form of a partially repayable loan.

OCAF board decisions are informed by sound economic analysis and measurable results.

Since 1999, the Government of Ontario has invested $41.75 million in the Fund and the success of the initiatives in which OCAF has invested has led to a healthy replenishment of the Fund for future projects. The program is now expected to continue until 2017-2018, with funding approvals of over $72 M by that time (almost double the government investment!)

Above Ground Above Ground Art Supplies
Above Ground Art Supplies began in 1983.

We began in a tiny, windowless second story location, just down the street from the Ontario College of Art & Design, now known as OCAD University. After a couple of months we moved to a street level space around the corner and continued to expand over the next 15 years, until we had 3000 square feet and nowhere else to grow.

Above Ground specialized in hard to find items, quickly becoming a haven for art students and professional artists alike. The quest to have the greatest selection continued, and the need for a new larger location quickly followed.

Steam Whistle Brewing
The Steam Whistle story begins in the spring of 1998 when three friends were on a canoe trip in the Ontario heartland. Greg Taylor, Cam Heaps and Greg Cromwell had all been colleagues at one of Canada's premier microbreweries producing quality beer in the late 1980's and 90's - before it was bought out by a national brewer and closed down. As they sat around the campfire, the self-named "Three Fired Guys" dreamed of running their own brewery one day.

They wanted to make a Pilsner that would compete with the best in the world. They wrote a plan and quickly attracted investors with their vision and passion.

Wild North Flowers
Using 100% Ontario-Grown flowers, we design and deliver seasonal arrangements throughout Toronto and the GTA.

Our design style is natural and elegant, with that "fresh from the garden" look. We buy directly from local growers so our flowers are always super fresh. To cut down on waste, instead of having dozens of options, we offer a limited number of curated daily designs based on what is freshest that day. You pick the size and colour palette, we do the rest.

We do wedding and events all year, from city hall bridal bouquets to corporate galas, and everything in between. Looking for something custom? No problem! Email or call us, we are happy to help.

We are committed to giving back to our community, and donate 2% of all sales to a different local charity each month. We offer free delivery in the City of Toronto, and $5-$10 for GTA delivery. You can order online until Midnight (Toronto time) for next-day delivery.

Gladstone Hotel
The Gladstone Hotel is where ideas are cultivated and magic happens. It’s where people come to participate. It’s an accessible space that allows artists, travellers and diners to collide, collaborate, disagree, debate, fall in love, get in trouble and get away with it. Set within the historic walls of Toronto’s oldest continually operating hotel, the Gladstone has evolved into a social and cultural house with 37 artist designed hotel rooms, a restaurant + bar and four unique event venues.

And the art – it’s everywhere. The Gladstone provides access to locally-made works 365 days year. Partnering with community organizations and arts curators, the Gladstone produces a long list of exhibitions and programs including: Thats So Gay, a celebration of Pride, Grow Op, a provocative exploration of landscape and place; If Walls Could Talk, an experiential illustration show; Hard Twist, a juried textile exhibition; Why the @#&! Do you Paint?, which coincides with Nuit Blanche and many more.

There are many layers that make the Gladstone Hotel the authentic, community-focused environment it is today.  Don’t worry, we made this diagram so understanding it is pretty much a slice of cake.
